Abstract
The study aimed to identify the extent of the impact of family participation on the
decisions of purchasing durable goods among faculty members at Nile Valley
University. The study included (116) faculty members at the concerned university,
considering it a homogeneous society in terms of ranks and degrees. The study
used the descriptive analytical approach as it is the most appropriate to follow the
phenomenon under study. The researchers used a questionnaire that included
personal data and statements related to the study hypothesis. The averages and
standard deviations were also used to reach the results of the study. The
importance of the study came as a result of addressing the impact of family
participation on purchasing decisions due to the fact that it is not mentioned much
in scientific research, as it is one of the most important behavioral influences on
decisions to purchase goods in general and durable goods in particular. The study
reached several results, the most important of which are: The influential role of the
family in making the purchasing decision for durable goods for the target group, as
the study showed that the behavior of the study sample is modified and consistent
with their families when making the purchase decision. It made the most important recommendations: *The need for organizations producing and providing durable
goods to focus on the family’s participation in making the purchase decision for
durable goods, as it has the greatest impact on its members *The necessity of
paying attention to business organizations that produce and provide durable goods
in a manner that is consistent with the behavior and expectations of family
members. *Business organizations producing and providing durable goods focus
on highlighting the characteristics and advantages of the goods they provide .
