Abstract
The present study was conducted to estimate some heavy metals (Cd, Cu, Pb, Fe and Ni) in four types of vegetables (tomato, potato, carrot and cucumber) were taken from Berber market. Samples were analyzed using Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy. The obtained results were compared with SSMO and WHO standards .The results indicated that the mean concentrations of Pb and Fe were higher in tomato than the other vegetables type. This may be due to pollutants in irrigation water, farm soil, mining operations and industrial activities. The mean concentrations of Cd and Cu were showed a high levels in tomato, potato and cucumber .However, carrot had the lowest levels .The concentrations of Ni reflected high levels among the whole vegetables which were above the permissible standards. The results compared with previous study.
